Quick answer
A typical flooring project runs in nine steps: call, free in-home estimate, written scope, ordering and acclimation, preparing the space, subfloor prep, installation, cure and cleanup, and a final walkthrough. Most single-room LVP or carpet jobs take one to three days on site; tile, stairs and epoxy take longer because of drying and cure times.
Before anything is ordered: the estimate and scope
Everything starts with looking at the floor, not with a catalog. Photos help, but a visit shows us the subfloor, the room shapes and the doorways in ways a photo cannot. At the estimate we measure, check for movement and moisture risk, and ask how the room is used. You leave with a clear idea of the options and a written scope shortly afterwards.
- Call or send details. You call (541) 781-8025 or use the quote form, and tell us which rooms, what floor you have now and what you are hoping for.
- Free in-home estimate. We visit, measure, look at the subfloor and talk through products, traffic and moisture.
- Written scope and quote. You receive a written scope covering removal, prep, materials, transitions, trim and cleanup.
- Order and acclimate materials. Product is ordered, delivered dry and left to acclimate in the house where the maker requires it.
- Prepare the space. Furniture is cleared or moved, the work area is protected and old flooring is removed.
- Subfloor prep. We patch, level, fasten and test moisture, and install any membrane or backer the product requires.
- Installation. The new floor is installed, with transitions, stair work and trim fitted as agreed.
- Cure, cleanup and care. Adhesives, mortar, grout or coatings cure for the stated time; we clean up and review care instructions.
- Final walkthrough. We inspect the floor with you, note anything to adjust and confirm the warranty terms in writing.
Order lead times and acclimation
Special-order carpet, tile and some LVP lines can take a week or more to arrive, so the earlier the decision, the shorter the wait. Once materials arrive they often need to rest in the house. LVP and laminate usually acclimate for a set period, tile needs checking for shade and size variation, and adhesives and mortars have temperature ranges. Ordering a small overage for cuts and future repairs is common practice.
Preparing the home
You can help by clearing small items, bedding and breakables from the work area. We handle large furniture where it has been agreed in the scope. Plan for pets, since a door left open on a work day is a hazard, and tell us about alarm systems, gate codes and any neighbors who might be disturbed by deliveries. Protection along the path from door to work area keeps wet-season mud off the rest of the house.
Day-by-day expectations
- LVP and carpet: often completed in one to three days for a typical small home, with furniture back that evening or the next day.
- Tile: set on day one, grouted after the mortar cures, with light foot traffic usually possible the following day.
- Epoxy: grinding and coating over about two days, followed by a cure period before vehicles return.
- Stairs: quoted and scheduled separately because the work is slower and more detailed.
Timelines vary with the weather, the condition of the subfloor and the product. We confirm them in writing and tell you promptly if a hidden issue changes the plan.
When something unexpected shows up
Removing an old floor sometimes reveals rot, uneven framing or a damp slab. When that happens we stop, show you, explain options and give a price for any change before proceeding. We would rather deal with it openly than bury it under a new floor. The prep and warranty guide describes what we document, and the wet-climate guide explains why moisture is the most common surprise in the valley.
Walkthrough, care and follow-up
At the end we walk through the floor with you in good light, check seams, transitions and edges, and talk through cleaning and care. Any touch-ups are noted and scheduled. Keep your product literature and the written scope in a safe place, since warranty claims need them. If anything seems off later, call (541) 781-8025 and describe it; photos help.
